What a generous and kind thing that you do to help Jack send out more preachers and pulpits. I had never known how to harvest seeds from these plants and create offspring. Thanks to you, I now know how to do so.
I started with a few seeds years ago but not am working to keep this lovely plant in control. I has spread over the year into my neighbors yard and into all my gardens. I believe the squirrels are moving the seeds around.
I grew up next to a very big wood (the 'high woods') in Pennsylvania. Among the many glories were Jack-in-the Pulpits. We kids spent every moment we could amongst the trees and running thru them to the pond that lay below. My Mother rang a bell at dusk when it was time for me to come home. I have it here these many years later. Such memories, so happy.

Best of success with your Jacks!
This essay and the photos are so interesting. I learned a song in first grade about Jacks and I’ve always searched for them in the woods.
There was a little man standing in the wood
He wore a purple cloak and a small dark hood
Tell me who that man could be
Standing there so patiently
In his purple cloak and his small dark hood
What a charming song. I've never heard it.
Great practical advice for such a great plant!
Thank you Lewis.

You must have a very nice neighborhood! Well done.

What a wonderful memory. I hope some kids somewhere are still getting to do things like that.
