Wow! Thank you so much for writing and sharing this experience of these adorable birds. My dog also really enjoyed the recordings and perked his head up as I was listening! I knew nothing about woodcocks or how to identify their sounds when I opened this newsletter. Your essay conveys your excitement and knowledgeable engagement so well, translating your wonder into me as I wake with my morning coffee in bed. I love them and this so much! I first heard/saw woodcocks with a group of stalkers last spring at dusk, and it was just magical. Doing it again in April. Amazing that you can see woodcocks nearby and witness this lovely ritual and their many peents. Thank you for sharing the beauty.
