Eurasian Collared Doves are frequent fliers in our neighborhood, too.

Great photos! Agree that these "aliens" so far haven't caused a problem.

It could change, I guess.

i first saw this dove and learned their lovely songs in Hawaii. A year or two ago I was supprised and pleased to hear their song here. As ever thank you for your informative commentary.

They do sound different from the Mourning Doves.

Magical! We have them here in central Texas--but I've seen only one, not a pair. Thank you for this, on a lovely rainy morning!

Thanks Susan. And how sweet are spring rains!

Lovely photos! We have a pair that nest somewhere near our flat in central Edinburgh.

Cool. And much cooler that you have them in Edinburgh than the fact that I see them in Iowa USA, where they don't "belong." However, I'm glad they are not considered a problem to native species — at least not much or not yet. They are beautiful and musical, and I always get a little thrill out of seeing them.

Collared Doves weren't found in the UK until the 1950s when they started arriving (under their own efforts, they weren't introduced by humans). Since then they've spread across the country and are a welcome sight everywhere I think. As you say, they're beautiful and musical

That is interesting.
